My role in the Volvo Cars ‘the all new Volvo C70’ project was massive. There were different launch dates and Concept/Design companies. In the creation area we hade 4D (euroscg) Amsterdam that did everything except the Experience site that 4D (euroscg) New York did.
My part in this project was that I worked as a Project Manager, kept contact with the different offices and was responsible for the technical parts from building the site to make sure it was published correct to the markets. One new challenge that I hade was to build the site so dynamic so it could be used for all other Car models. It should be easy for the markets to edit in the CMS and it would also be possible for markets like Korea, China and Japan to join with the new Experience. To do this I did all the basics in the functional specification that also later on was used for the other offices that was going to make the other experience modules. While developing I had two extra flash developers to my aid.
_banner
The banner was the last thing that was created. A large banner that was positioned on the markets homepage to show users the new launch.
_landingpage
This is the first page you will se when entering 'the all new Volvo C70'.
_frankfurt motor show
First part that we did was the Frankfurt Motor Show. It was about to launch 2 weeks before the exhibition in Frankfurt. There was a couple of technical issues to solve regarding pieces that was supposed to launch at the exhibition start date and how to manage that in CMS.
_design story
As a part of the Frankfurt Motor Show we did the Design story. Kept this out of the exhibition pages to be able to keep this section after the Motor Show had ended.
_3D
Volvo Cars did all the 3D images that were needed to put together the C70 3D module. I added some graphical icons to show broadband users that there are two angles with the top on and off.
_experience
The experience section was the most advanced to build. Its content are dynamic so it could hold any other car. It’s built in CMS so markets can easily change, add, remove pieces as they like and the site can also be shown in Japanese, Chinese and Korean language.
